We are a local, volunteer-led 501(c)(3)
Our Mission
To bring property owners within the Big Mountain Fire District boundaries together to reduce wildfire risk in our community through knowledge, collaboration, and preparedness.
Firewise USA® Recognition
We are recognized by the national Firewise USA® program, which provides a collaborative framework to help neighbors in a geographic area get organized, find direction, and take action to increase the ignition resistance of their homes and community.
EDUCATION EVENTS
Summer Picnic
We hold an education event each July at the Big Mountain Fire Hall, complete with hamburgers and hot dogs.
There are a host of information tables and several guest speakers, along with activities for kids.
Pizza Party
A smaller scale education event is held each February at the Big Mountain Fire Hall with pizza and guest speakers.
BRUSH PICKUP
Every June, we organize a community Brush Collection Day to help reduce wildfire risk and keep our neighborhood fire wise.
Residents are invited to place yard debris—such as branches, tree limbs, and small logs—at the curb. Volunteers then collect and transport the material for disposal.
We are grateful to Whitefish Mountain Resort for allowing the debris to be placed in their burn pile.
Our goal is simple:
Help every property owner understand what they can do — and make it easier to do it.
